Dr. Ahmad Alhuraiji

Ahmad Alhuraiji is a hemato-oncologist consultant working in the department of hematology at Kuwait Cancer Control Centre. His main focus of interest is the field of leukemia, myeloproliferative neoplasms, myelodysplastic syndrome and plasma cell disorders. I am involved in education and training of resident of the Kuwaiti hematology residency program and worked with other colleagues to establish the adult hematology clinical fellowship program in 2020.

Dr. Daniel Holmes

Daniel Holmes earned his undergraduate degree in Chemical Physics from the University of Toronto. He went to medical school at the University of British Columbia (UBC) where he also did his residency in Medical Biochemistry. He is a Clinical Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UBC and Head and Medical Director of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver and Interim Medical Director of the British Columbia Provincial Toxicology Laboratory. Interests include clinical endocrinology with a focus on secondary hypertension,  lipidology, clinical mass spectrometry, and data science in application to data automation, visualization and clinical utilization.

Professor Devi Nair. Is qualified from Madras Medical College India and completed her post graduate studies at the Royal Free Hospital London. Her special interests include familial hyperlipidaemia or hyperlipidaemia of genetic origin.

As an academic with University College London her research Interest includes Lipids, CVD prevention and renal disease. She is the Speciality Lead for the Health Service Laboratory that serves four major hospitals in North-West London.

Dr.Thanaa M.K Refai, is a consultant and head of the Clin. Chem. Unit Amiri hospital M.O.H, Kuwait and a Prof. of Clinical& Chemical Pathology F.O.M, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. Dr.Thanaa is a clinical tutor and site coordinator in CBMM (Clinical Biochemistry and Metabolic Medicine) board program.

Dr. Ahmed Alsarraf

I got my postgraduate training in Medical Biochemistry and was awarded a certificate in Clinical Lipidology by the National Lipid Association in the United States. I have co-authored several publications in international journals mainly in lipid disorders. I actively contributed to the Familial Hypercholesterolemia Registry in MENA region and participated in several projects and campaigns to raise awareness to certain lipid disorders and non-communicable diseases. I am currently the Laboratory director at Dasman Diabetes Institute  and I am also Faculty chair for clinical biochemistry program in Kuwait. In addition, head of the lipid clinic in Amiri Hospital

Dr. Ayman Salloum

Dr. Ayman Salloum, MD, PhD, clinical pathologist (clinical biochemistry). Working in Al-Sabah Hospital clinical laboratories. Deputy head of biochemistry and hormone units. Where most of the metabolic investigations available in Kuwait are handled. Site coordinator and tutor at Kuwait institute for medical specialization in clinical biochemistry and metabolic medicine postgraduate education program.

Dr. Carys Lippiatt

Dr Carys Lippiatt is a Consultant Clinical Scientist in Biochemistry and the Clinical Lead for Specialist Laboratory Medicine (including toxicology and trace elements) at Leeds teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists and a registered member of the Health Professions Council (UK) for Clinical Scientists.

Her main interests are biochemical markers of toxicity, lead toxicity in infants and childhood, technical and clinical validation of novel biomarkers and their translation into clinical use in patient pathways. Her focus is on the appropriate use of clinical laboratory services to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.

Dr. Khalid Al Waili studied medicine in Oman and obtained his Medical Degree in 2001. He then did his residency training in Medical Biochemistry for 5 years at McGill University, Canada, 2004 – 2009. Then he spent two years in Canada, working as a clinical fellow and Scientist in clinical Lipidology at the Royal Victoria Hospital, McGill University, under the direct supervision of Prof. Jacques Genest. The National Lipid Association in the United States also awarded him a certificate in Clinical Lipidology in 2010.

Dr. Al Waili is a Senior Consultant Medical Biochemist and Lipidologist and he is currently the Head of Department of Biochemistry and the Lipid Unit at the Sultan Qaboos University Hospital (SQUH) in Oman. Moreover, he is the vice president of Oman Society for Lipid & Atherosclerosis (OSLA).

Dr. Yadav Girish

Dr Girish is a senior clinical biochemistry consultant having more than 45 years of experience in Kuwait. Having highest qualification from England and further trainings in USA, he has witnessed the growth of Kuwait’s Clinical Biochemistry services from mostly manual to today’s advanced level. Through his active interest and sincere work, he has established many new patients care biochemistry services. 

Currently he is working to evaluate and establish diagnostic services for Alzheimer disease. 

Mr. Arie Kant

(BSc) Managing Director at Sykam GmbH Owner & Managing Director Biokal Chromatography & Purification Solutions. 

Arie Kant started his career in 1982 in sales at Pharmacia (now called Cytiva) for LC, FPLC and HPLC. From 1990 till 2001 he was international account manager and product specialist for HPLC, Amino Acid Analysis and DNA/Peptide Synthesis at Eppendorf AG. The period 2001 till 2008 he was responsible for sales and marketing Amino Acid Analyzers, and protein purification systems and media at GE-Healthcare and a Laboratory service company, after which he started his company Biokal Chromatography &  Purification solutions. Nowadays he is acting managing director for Sykam GmbH and Biokal.

Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Fares

Dr. Al-Fares graduated from the University of Birmingham Medical School, UK in 2003, and then pursued training in Internal Medicine and Critical Care, where he obtained MRCP UK in 2011, followed by a residency in Internal medicine in McGill 2012, Critical Care at the University of Toronto in 2015 and obtained ABIM and FRCPC in Internal Medicine and Critical care in 2016 and 2017, respectively. He then pursued further training in Extracorporeal Life Support and Critical Care Echocardiography at the University of Toronto and obtain certification from the National Board of Echocardiography. He is currently the Chair of the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care Medicine and Pain Medicine and the Director of Kuwait Extracorporeal Life Support Program, Al-Amiri Hospital, Ministry of Health, Kuwait.

Dr. Andrew Turner

Dr Andrew Turner is a PhD scientist with over 30 years of experience working in clinical laboratories. Within the UAE previously held positions include manager of Sheikh Khalifa Medial City (SKMC) and Chief Operating Officer for SEHA laboratories.  He is currently Laboratory Director for Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi (CCAD) and Technical Director for the National Reference Laboratory. Areas of particular scientific interest include flow cytometry for hematological malignancies and the diagnosis of hemoglobinopathies.  

Dr. Nafila Al Riyami

Dr. Nafila is a Senior Consultant Medical Biochemist/Chemical Pathologist at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, with nearly 14 years of experience. As Associate Program Director of the Clinical Biochemistry training program at Oman Medical Specialty Board, she actively mentors future professionals. Dr. Nafila is dedicated to education and research, with numerous publications and presentations at national and international conferences, while also leading initiatives to enhance quality of care within the hospital.

Dr. Jamal holds the position of Associate Professor of Surgery at Kuwait University, where he also serves as the program director for bariatric surgery fellowship at KIMS. With expertise as a Consultant Surgeon, he brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to his role.
